Companion Post to Chicago Family LawCast on Financial Disclosures
REQUEST A CONSULTATIONI recommend anyone reading this post to listen to the Chicago Family LawCast installment on financial disclosures. This is more of a supplement.
In Cook County, Illinois, financial disclosures are governed by Cook County Rules 13.3.1 and 13.3.2. Your family law attorney will know them well. In the LawCast, I breakdown financial disclosures into three prongs: (1) financial disclosure statements; (2) last five pay stubs; and (3) last two years’ tax returns (state and federal). Think of these as a monthly, quarterly, and annual snapshot of your financial health. Each serves a different purpose and each is aided by the inclusion of the other two prongs.
Cook County is not an anomaly. Each county has some form of financial disclosure requirement. Regardless of county, be sure to talk to your attorney about your financial disclosures and let him or her advise you on how to meet these requirements.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact my office with any questions.
