Immigration Law Attorneys

At Stern Perkoski Mendez, our immigration law team knows that that nothing is more important than keeping your family together during and after your immigration case. That’s why we take our responsibility so seriously to represent you—and guide you in understanding every step of the legal process.

Our team is passionate about helping immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers stay with their families and work in the United States. Whether your family is currently living in different countries, you originally came here without documentation, or you’re seeking permission to work or study in the U.S., we’re here to help you.

At Stern Perkoski Mendez, our goal is that you never have to experience the heartbreak of being separated from your family due to an immigration case. We want to prevent you from worrying every day if you or a family member will be sent out of the country. Our immigration team is ready to help you and your family in safely obtaining documentation and/or citizenship in the United States.

Immigration cases tend to be complex, and often emotional. We’ll simplify the process as much as possible for you and your family, while making sure you understand your entire case. Immigration cases fall into two main categories: family-based immigration cases, and employment-based immigration cases.

Family-Based Immigration Cases: Keeping Your Family Together

From keeping your family members together to creating a home in the United States, our immigration law team is ready to advocate for you. We provide the following legal support:

  1. Bringing a Family Member to the U.S.
If you are living in the United States and want to petition for your family member(s) to come here as well, you will need to open an immigration case. At Stern Perkoski Mendez, we’ll help carefully file the appropriate paperwork, and keep your family together. In this situation, you may need a K-1 Visa to join your fiancé in the United States or a K-3 Visa to join your spouse in the United States.
  2. Representation at Immigration Court
If you have an upcoming immigration interview, removal (deportation) proceeding, or need to reopen a denial of visa, our team can represent you. We also draft applications for Permanent Resident Cards (or “Green Cards”) and U.S. citizenship.

Employment-Based Immigration Cases: Providing for You and Your Family

Whether you’re an employer seeking provisions for your employees or an individual seeking your own visa, our immigration law team can help. You may need:

  • O-1 Visa, appropriate for individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement in their profession
  • H-1B Visa, a non-immigrant work visa that allows employers to hire foreign workers for specialty jobs
  • F-1 Visa to study at a university in the United States
  • L-1 Visa to gain temporary employment in the United States
  • A different, less common visa

We have experience obtaining each of these visas, and can help determine which you’ll need, depending on your situation.
